Yvonne Eleanor Ferrara, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at Caribou Medical Center in Soda Springs, Idaho. Born on June 9, 1927, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Yvonne was known for her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and deep love for her family. She lived a life rich with love and memories, leaving behind a legacy that will be celebrated by all who knew her.
Yvonne's career was a tapestry woven with dedication and compassion. She expertly navigated the bustling world to work by Bus & Ferry to New York, while also nurturing her creativity as a hairdresser, where she would often bring joy to others through her artistry. Later in life, she devoted herself to caring for her husband, Frank Ferrara, with whom she shared an enduring partnership of over 63 years. Her love and commitment were evident in every moment they shared.
She will be missed beyond words by her family & loving daughters, Susan Plante and her husband Larry, and Barbara Zevetchin and her husband Karl. Yvonne was the proud grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren—and care giver Jennifer Brady and her husband John, Gene Forsythe and his wife Michelle, Todd Forsythe and his wife Kristen, Nicole Montelbano and her husband Jacob Jones, Brody Plante, Jared Zevetchin, Jeremy Zevetchin and his wife Debra, and Jordan Zevetchin and his wife Lori. Yvonne cherished the times spent with her grandchildren and reveled in the joy they brought her life, not to mention the 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who were lucky enough to bask in her warmth.
Yvonne's love for music was a cornerstone of her life. She found happiness listening to her favorite Barry Manilow records and attending concerts, often sharing these moments with her family including sharing her cheerleader days at Madison Square Garden. Known for her cute sayings and delightful little songs she created herself; she filled the hearts of her loved ones with joy. Her culinary talents shone brightly through the cherished recipes she made, such as ice box cake, crumb cake, and carrot cake, which are memories that will forever be savored during family gatherings. Her favorite outings included adventurous trips to Captains Inn on the water, where she created lasting memories with her family.
A lover of dance and travel, Yvonne enjoyed group trips and line dancing in Nashville. She always looked her best, dressing to the nines for any occasion, ready at a moment's notice to welcome friends and family into her home. Her affection for her beloved poodles, especially Cody, added to the love that surrounded her. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Popcorn Zoo, her favorite place in NJ.
While we celebrate her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on those around her, we also remember those who predeceased her, including her devoted husband Frank Ferrara, her beloved stepfather Robert Schwerdt, her adored mother Evelyn Schwerdt, her father Frank Misera, and her dear siblings, Joanie Federico and Franklyn Misera. They remain a part of her story, as their love shaped the incredible woman we remember today.
