IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vicky
Hathcock
February 16, 1952 – November 29, 2023
Vicky Lynn Nix Hathcock was born on February 16, 1952, in Muscatine, Iowa, to her loving parents, Arthur F. Nix and Virginia M. Ballenger. She grew up in a home filled with warmth, faith, and a strong sense of family. At the age of fourteen, she moved with her family to Orem, Utah, where she continued to grow into the compassionate, determined person so many would come to rely on.
From a young age, Vicky was known for her caring nature. Her dream was to become a nurse, and she attended nursing school before making the selfless decision to step away in order to raise her family, a decision that would become her proudest and most defining calling. Her love for nurturing, healing, and helping others never left her; she simply lived that purpose at home and in her community instead of in a hospital.
On February 15, 1974, she married her sweetheart, Francis “Franc” Hathcock, and together they built a life grounded in faith, devotion, and unconditional love. They welcomed six children, Rashel, Diana, Jeffrey, Linda, Patrick, and Alysha, each one cherished and supported by a mother who believed her greatest calling was to love her family fiercely.
Vicky was the heart of her home. Whether through a warm embrace, a late-night conversation, a home-cooked meal, or a whispered prayer, she made sure every member of her family knew they were seen, valued, and loved. She was steady and strong, someone her loved ones could turn to in times of joy, hardship, or uncertainty.
In 1988, Vicky and Franc settled in Weston, Idaho, where she lived for 35 years. She often said she would never leave Weston until God told her it was time. She built lifelong friendships there, becoming a trusted neighbor, a loving friend, and a faithful servant in her church community. Those who knew her describe her as gentle, talented, giving, and an unfailing example of Christlike love.
Alongside her role as a mother, Vicky embraced the treasured role of grandmother to 22 grandchildren, Cade, Elizabeth, Justen (Rashel); Michael, Cameron, Bradley, Lillian, Wesley (Jeffrey & TiAna); ShyAnne, William, Jessa, Sydnee, Riley, Tracie, Jamen, Kohnyr (Linda); Stettson, Paige, Ashlyn, Austin (Patrick & Shanna); Jagger, Vayden (Alysha), each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She celebrated their milestones, comforted their struggles, and treated every grandchild as though they were her only one. They adored her just as much in return.
Vicky was someone who made others feel at home simply by being present. She found happiness in the simple but profound blessings of life, family gatherings, heartfelt conversations, acts of service, and quiet moments of reflection. She was talented, creative, and strong-willed in all the best ways.
Even amid trials and health challenges, her faith remained unwavering. She held firmly to her belief in eternal families, and that assurance gave her great peace as she prepared to return to her Heavenly Father. She passed away on November 29, 2023, surrounded by love and in the comfort of her home.
Vicky is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy, her daughter Diana, and her grandson Justen. She is survived by her loving husband, Franc; five of her children; and 21 grandchildren who will carry her legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength throughout their lives.
Her life was a testament to devotion, devotion to family, to faith, and to the Savior she followed. Her memory will continue to bless generations to come.
