On May 27th, our beloved 82-year-old Mother & Grandmother, Sherry Stalcup Redd, was finally reunited with the love of her life, her Buddy boy, after enduring many years of suffering with dementia.
Sherry was born on March 23, 1943, to Helen and Barney Stalcup in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She primarily grew up in Moab, Utah. She was a good student and enjoyed being a member of the Riding Club. She was Ms. Grand County; her outer beauty matched her inner beauty.
During her senior year of high school, she met and was immediately smitten with Buddy Redd, a dashing young man from Monticello. They were married on June 13, 1964, at the home of her in-laws, Keith & Donna Redd. Sherry joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Buddy and Sherry were sealed in the Manti Temple in 1980.
Sherry received her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Utah and spent most of her professional career as an elementary school teacher at Monticello Elementary and various schools in San Juan County.
Sherry was happiest spending quality time with her family and was always planning the next family reunion. She had a great love for the outdoors. Together with Buddy, they explored the mountains and deserts of southern Utah. The nickname we had for them was the “wanderers.” Sherry loved searching for heart-shaped rocks, being creative, and tending to her yard.
Mom lived an exemplary life dedicated to serving others. She was generous with her time and effort in helping those in need and served in various capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by sons Matthew (Julie), Paul (Tony), Ryan (Jen), and daughter Jamie, her 11 grandkids, and 2 great-grandkids. She is preceded in death by her Buddy and her parents.
A special thank you to her caregivers at Birch Creek and Autumn Care Center for their tender and loving care.
Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted at Noon on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Smithfield Cemetery. To share a favorite memory of Sherry or to offer condolences to the family, please leave a tribute on this page.
