Ruth Squire Howe

June 3, 1931 — November 3, 2023

Grace, Idaho

Ruth G Howe, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home in Grace, Idaho. She was surrounded by love and memories as she transitioned from this world to the next. Ruth's gentle nature and caring spirit touched the lives of all those who knew her.

Born on June 3, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ruth was the daughter of Adrien Axil Squire and Pearl Gwendolyn Squire.  After her father's death when she was just 3 months old, Pearl and her four children moved into a home with her grandparents, Joseph and Gwendolyn Benzon.  Ruth learned the importance of hard work and perseverance. Despite leaving high school early to help support her mother financially, Ruth never let go of her thirst for knowledge.

Ruth began her career in the local bakery where she showcased her talent for baking and decorating cakes at a young age. Her expertise eventually led her to get trained as a dental assistant. For many years, she worked diligently in several dental practices until her well-deserved retirement in 1994.

A woman of many passions and interests, Ruth's love for Christmas was unparalleled. She cherished the holiday season and created lasting memories centered around it. Her Christmas tree was a sight to behold, adorned with handcrafted ornaments that she made or collected throughout her life. The tradition of gathering around Ruth's beautifully decorated tree brought joy and warmth to countless family gatherings.

Ruth's creativity extended far beyond Christmas ornaments. She enjoyed drawing, painting, embroidering, and decorating various objects with intricate designs. Nature held a special place in her heart as she marveled at the beauty of trees and spent many hours exploring outdoors with her loving husband Bill. Together with their children and other family members, they embarked on unforgettable hunting trips, fishing adventures, hiking expeditions, and rock-collecting endeavors across central and southeastern Idaho.

One of Ruth's proudest accomplishments was her skill as a seamstress. She possessed a natural talent for sewing and took pride in creating one-of-a-kind garments for her family. From men's suits to extravagant dresses, Ruth's creations were a testament to her meticulous craftsmanship and dedication.

In addition to her passion for creativity, Ruth found joy in dancing. She devoted numerous years to participating in dance competitions and teaching church youth groups. Her elegant moves on the dance floor brought happiness to those around her and left a lasting impact on the community.

Ruth is survived by her loving daughter Lorilee Weaver, son-in-law "Royster" Melvin R. Weaver, and son Bradley G. Howe. She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Ryan Weaver and his wife Svitlana Vasylenko Weaver, Brookestar Weaver Jorgensen, and husband, Jeremy Jorgensen, Nathaniel Howe Gutierrez, Victor and his wife Leslie Howe Gutierrez, and Emma Lee. The joy in Ruth's life continued through her ten great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable happiness into her later years.

Ruth was predeceased by her father Adrien Axil Squire, mother Pearl Gwendolyn Squire, sister Barbara Squire Horkley, brothers Richard Squire and Kenneth Squire. She also joins the eternal embrace of her beloved husband of 60 years, "Bill" William G. Howe; Ardella Stone Howe McCullough (mother-in-law); Garold McCullough (father-in-law), David Alonzo Howe (father-in-law), and Barbara Howe Bennion (sister-in-law).

Ruth G Howe will forever be remembered for her kind-heartedness, unwavering love for her family, and the creative spirit she shared with the world. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created with loved ones—memories that will continue to bring warmth to their hearts for generations to come.

At her request, no funeral services will be conducted.

May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. Please share a favorite memory of Ruth or offer condolences to the family, by leaving a tribute on this page.
