Leslie Jo
Chamberlain
Jun 16, 1934 — Jun 18, 2026
Leslie Jo Chamberlain of Thatcher, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the incredible age of 92 years and 2 days at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, Idaho. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 16, 1934, to Harold Dane and Dorothy Gillette Chamberlain. She was the oldest child in her family and had three younger brothers. Two of her brothers preceded her in death. She lived in Glasgow, Montana, a while before moving back to Colorado. Her favorite place to live was Thatcher, Idaho, where she lived for more than 30 years. She loved this beautiful valley and the country life. She cherished the friendships she made here.
Leslie was an avid reader. She believed deeply in the value of learning and generously supported her local elementary school library, helping inspire a love of reading in future generations. She found endless joy in books and was rarely without a novel nearby. She loved sharing favorite stories and recommending books to others.
Leslie was truly a “jack of all trades”, someone who could do just about anything she set her mind to, and if she didn’t already know how, she’d figure it out. Whether fixing something around the house, helping a friend in need, sewing, gardening, cooking, crafting, or learning a new skill, she was always willing to share her knowledge and talents with others.
One of her greatest joys in life was her deep love for animals. She loved them all – cats, dogs, birds, and any stray that happened to wander into her backyard. Animals seemed to know instantly that they had found a kind soul and probably a snack. She cared for countless pets and creatures over the years with tenderness and compassion.
Leslie was the mother of four children; three of them preceded her in death. She had a sharp wit, a generous heart, and the kind of practical wisdom that only comes from living a full and busy life. She leaves behind countless memories, family and friends who adored and learned from her, and probably several unfinished projects she fully intended to get back to tomorrow. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew her can hear her saying, “Don’t fuss over me ---- just get on with it!
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced when the details are available. To share a favorite memory of Leslie, or to offer condolences to the family, please leave a tribute on this page.
