The man who solved all our problems is now the angel answering our prayers.

Leonard Brent Sharp was born December 3, 1950, to Loretta and Albert Sharp. He came home from the hospital to the small family farm in Winder, Idaho, to start his memorable journey. He was a farmer from the start; to many, a farmer is the person who plants the seed. In our experience, it meant a lot more. It meant giving up everything for something bigger. That character trait spread further for him and covered not only the ranch but all the people he held dear. It also transitioned to God; he served an LDS mission in The California East Mission and always held true to his deep-seated belief in the LDS faith. He believed faith in God went hand in hand with faith in Country. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.

He married Jody Hull, the ying to his yang, on November 17th, 1972. They frustrated each other for 52 years but held the belief that when two people think the same, one of them is not needed. They went on to have three character-building experiences: Rex, Brenda, and Alona. They spend most of their lives settled in their home in Cub River, Idaho. He was proud to dedicate blood, sweat, and tears to running the property by his home and Ranch up Sugar Creek with his best pals. The love he had for his land and those in the farming community was astounding. His ability to foster relationships, gain respect, and build trust enabled him to establish several businesses, including bringing V1 Oil to Preston and his legacy Western Dutch Oven Cooking.

Although he had several legacies to be proud of, no words describe what his children and grandchildren meant to him. It is impossible to list what he was willing to do and what he has done for them.

He is survived by so many who loved him that listing them all is also impossible. The reunion in heaven, though, is something to be imagined... The cards he is playing with Jack and Cristy... The hugs with Alta and Robert, Carleen and Dorthy... The embrace with Loretta and Albert, Peck and Blanch. It is a wonderful feeling to know he is surrounded with love and embraced by so many.

Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 16th, at the Mapleton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cub River, Idaho. The viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 before the funeral services.  Graveside services will follow, and the grand finale will be a community dinner at the church featuring food from his menu. We encourage everyone to come to whatever piece is fitting for you, but please know if you feel comfortable stopping by, you should feel comfortable sitting for lunch. We will have plenty of food for everyone who wants to join us for a trip down memory lane with Brent's delicious Dutch Oven Cooking.
