Kaylene Chalmers

1955 – 2025

Kaylene Chalmers, 70, of Smithfield, Utah, passed away on July 2, 2025, surrounded by her family after a five-year battle with cancer. Her life was centered on her faith in Jesus Christ, serving others, and her love for her family, which brought her the greatest joy.

Kaylene was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony guided her throughout her life. As a young woman, she served a mission in Peru, where she used her nursing skills to serve others. She continued to serve faithfully in many church callings and found strength and purpose in her beliefs.

After becoming an RN, she earned her BSN and MSN degrees from Weber State University and worked as a nurse and nursing instructor. She was dedicated to helping others learn and heal, both professionally and personally.

Kaylene and her husband, Ken Chalmers, were married in the Salt Lake City Temple almost 46 years ago. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. She is the mother of six children: Michael (Kenna), Jeffrey (Melissa), Jacob (Netti), Steven (Danelle), Kristina (Andrew Johnson), and Derek (Rebecca). She was a proud grandmother to 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom she loved deeply and prayed for always. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is also survived by her father, Richard Creamer, and four siblings: Laurie (Brett) Allen, LaMar (Tami) Creamer, Peggy (Tim) Harding, Becky (AJ) Moone; and her in-laws, Jack and Yvonne Chalmers in Alberta, Canada.  Also, Ken’s siblings: David (Callee) Chalmers, Monica (Dan) Peterson,  Jacquie (Wayne) Pierson, and Wayne (Yu Lian) Chalmers.

Kaylene found joy in simple, meaningful activities. She loved sewing and crocheting, often making gifts for her family. She enjoyed baking for gatherings and took pride in her flowers and garden, where she found peace and fulfillment.

Throughout her life, Kaylene was known for her quiet acts of service. She was always willing to help a neighbor, bring a meal, or offer a listening ear. Her compassion and willingness to serve others were a reflection of her faith and love for people. She made a difference in many lives through her kindness and example. She was also a model of long-suffering and patience through extreme trials and afflictions. She will always be remembered for fighting valiantly, never quitting, and enduring to the very end.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Creamer, and her brother, Scott Creamer.
