Obituary

Joann Cron, aged 85, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at her home in Soda Springs, Idaho. Born on March 14, 1940, in Montpelier, Idaho, Joann was the beloved daughter of Roland Peterson of Ovid, Idaho, and Rosemary (Jackson) Peterson of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Joann was a 1958 graduate of Soda Springs High School. Joann married and shared two children, David and Rhonda, with Monte Mendenhall. They later divorced. On February 13, 1971, in Anaheim, California, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dale E. Cron. This unity added two step daughters, Randi and Connie, to their blended family. Though widowed at the time of her passing, Joann's spirit and love for Dale never waned.

A cherished mother to Monte David Mendenhall, and Rhonda Katie Angell, Joann’s legacy extended to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy throughout her life. With Hayln and Rand being the great-grandchildren living in the same state, ‘Jojo’ was able to be a part of their every day lives. She used this time to teach the kids about their other family members who were near, far and departed. Their time together at home, the parks, and the Caribou County Fair provided great memories for Joann.

Joann was a proud sister to Jerry, Johnny and Jimmy Peterson. Joann’s parents Roland and Rosemary, brothers Jimmy and Johnny, and sister in law, Ramona preceded her in death.

Joann will be remembered for her feisty attitude in life, being a sun lover and for her laugh that will echo in the memories of her family and friends. She is survived by her children Monte David Mendenhall and Rhonda Katie (Ken) Angell; her brother Jerry Peterson; sister-in-law Marty Peterson; seven grandchildren Diana, Chris, Jami, Corey, Shad, Taylor, Lauren, with their respective significant others; and six great-grandchildren Hayln, Rand, Carter, Hannah, Peyton and Harper.

The family would like to thank Joanne's friends and the Symbii Hospice staff who helped ensure Joann’s passing was comfortable, peaceful and exactly where she wanted to be.

To fulfill her final requests, no formal services will be conducted. To share a favorite memory of Joann or to offer condolences to the family, please leave a tribute on this page.
