Obituary

Edward (Ted) Waddoups Troseth returned to his Heavenly Father on December 23rd 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Ted was born on May 31, 1941, in Cornish, Utah, to Lindon Troseth and Lucia Waddoups. After the tragic passing of his mother, Lucia, Ted was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Fenton and Jenny Waddoups, in Preston, Idaho.

He graduated from Preston High School in 1959. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Ida Kaylene Griffin. They were married on August 14, 1962, and later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 1965. Together, they made their home in Grace, Idaho, where they welcomed five daughters: Toni, Marie, Lauri, Heather, and Nikki.

Throughout his life, Ted gained a wealth of skills and knowledge across many trades, including plumbing, auto mechanics, machine maintenance, and home construction. He built lifelong friendships during his many years working at the phosphate plant in Soda Springs, Idaho. Ted began his career at the El Paso plant in 1972, continuing through the Becker and Nu-West years, and retired from Agrium Phosphate in the fall of 2001.

In addition to his career, Ted was a valued member of the Grace Community. He served on the Grace Zoning Board helping plan for the city's future. He was also a Caribou County EMT, offering help and comfort to those in need. Ted was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ted served faithfully in numerous callings, including webelo scout leader.

In retirement, Ted enjoyed learning new hobbies and refining his talents. He spent time tying fishing flies, building classic model cars, and painting oil landscapes. He was also an avid Utah Jazz fan, never missing a chance to cheer for his team.

Ted is survived by his beloved wife, Ida Kaylene Griffin; his daughters Toni Lynn (Eugene) Christensen, Lucia Marie (Jeff) Crane, Lauri K. (Chet) Creamer, Heather Ann Troseth Bergman, and Nikki Lee (Jim) Wilhelmi; his sisters Linda (David) Callahan and Katherine Myers; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindon and Lucia Troseth; his grandparents, Fenton and Jenny Waddoups; and his brother, Norman George Troseth.

Funeral services for Ted will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 3, 2026 at the Grace, ID Stake Center, 404 S. Main Street, Grace, ID. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the services also at the church. Burial will follow in the Cornish Utah Cemetery at 2:30 the same day.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Enhabit Home Health & Hospice Care. And the staff of Heritage Senior Living center for the kindness, compassion, and support they provided to Ted and his family.
