Edward Michael (Mike-e) Ivory, 47 years old, residing in Layton City, Utah. Died April 21st, 2025, at his home in Layton.
Mike-e was born January 3rd, 1978, to Ron and Mary Ivory in Bountiful, Utah. He was the youngest of 4 boys (Ronnie, Brian, Jerime, brothers) and never missed a moment to brag about being the baby. Which sometimes came with special privileges, especially from his mom, who seemed to always think Mike-e was innocent. He grew up in Fountain Green, Utah, where a wild boy could find all the mischief to get into. He often went hunting with his brothers and dad, helping around the property, running from the mean chickens outback, and riding four-wheelers with his trusty dog Sandy. He often talked about riding around in “big brown,” and this likely spurred his love for Fords and big trucks. Mike-e was always game for a big adventure or ways to get in a little trouble. He always tagged along with his big brothers, his best friend Tony Olsen, cousin Troy Manske and anyone else he could get to tag along.
Mike-e married Alexis Sorensen on August 15th, 2009, in Vernal, Utah. Alexis was his very best friend, and his love for her began back in middle school. They bonded over their love for music and often could be found dancing and singing at the top of their lungs. He could always turn any situation into a light-hearted one, and the two of them seemed to always be laughing or finding a way to make each other laugh. Alexis came with 3 kids as tagalongs to the marriage, which never once deterred him. Jordon, Auston, and Katlon were his pride and joy, and he immediately took on the dad role. He loved being a dad and would step up to help fill that role anytime a kid needed it. He had many nieces and nephews that he considered second kids as well. He was a very involved dad, teaching the kids how to shoot a gun, drive a car (well before they should have), always carry a pocketknife, how to service your car (even the girls), and even how to throw a punch. The most important lessons taught, though, were how to turn to God and pray, never lie, always protect your family, and never judge a book by its cover.
Michael worked various jobs in his life, starting as a farm hand as a young boy, at Nestle for many years, and later on the oilfield. Mike-e was a hard worker and was often misjudged when it came to his strength because he was the tall, skinny guy. He quickly proved himself in the oilfield and held many positions, including Derekhand. His work took him and his family to many locations, including Vernal, Utah, Dickinson, North Dakota, and various other places. Often in life, he would be complimented for his resilience, willingness to help others, and ability to quickly get the job done.
While work gave him great satisfaction, he had many other passions and interests in life that always seemed to be a part of his life. He had a great love for animals, always owning various dog breeds. Mike-e was an avid movie watcher, with some of his favorites being Star Wars series, Stepbrothers, and Bluey (with his grandkids). He also loved any cool toy, nik-nak, or gadget he could find. Often collecting many things such as Hot Wheels, figurines, stickers, or pocket knives. A lifted truck, or fast car, would always catch his eye, and he often enjoyed any shows that included off-road racing, dirt bikes, or unique builds.
He was fond of many simple joys in life, but the thing that brought him the most joy was his grandkids. Boyd and Atla were truly his best friends, and for the last year and a half, he got to be their babysitter. The bond he shared with them was unmatched and unwavering. Atla and “Papa” would play salon for hours, watch movies (usually the Barbie movie or Bluey on repeat,) sneak snacks, play babies and snuggle. Boyd would play with trucks and trick Papa into letting him open one of his collectible toys to play with. He was always quick to kiss a scraped knee, tell Atla what a princess she was, tease Boyd, and teach him how to prank or just be there for a snuggle and a smooch. Atla says it best when she says, “Papa was my best friend.” You will not find a relationship that matches the one those two shared and the bond that will forever be missed.
In the last year, he lived with Skyler, Jordan, and their kids (Boyd, Atla). His absence in their home will be greatly noticed. The morning coffees, movie nights, eating dinner together, kids calling for Papa from the other room, and talks will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Alexis, children Jordon (Skyler), Auston (Lissette), and Katlon. Added kids London (Brady), Dillen. Grandchildren Boyd and Atla, brother Jerime, and many, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Ron and Mary, brothers Ronnie and Brian. Nephews Kyle, Colby, and best friend/cousin Troy, as well as his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be conducted at noon, April 26th, 2025, at the Fountain Green Utah City Hall, 375 N State St, Fountain Green, UT. Viewing from 10-11:30 that morning. Burial will follow in the Fountain Green Cemetery, and then a luncheon at the LDS church.
