Douglas Norman Buhler

Douglas Norman Buhler, 79, of Preston, Idaho, passed away peacefully at Franklin County Medical Center on September 18, 2025.
Doug was born on June 11, 1946, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Norman and Helen Buhler. He attended Ricks College, where he earned a degree in drafting, and went on to build a successful career as an electrician. Known for his strong work ethic and dependability, Doug took pride in his work and was respected by all who worked alongside him.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he served as an officer for many years.
Though he never married, Doug was a beloved father figure to many and a cherished uncle. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, who will always remember his kindness, humor, and guidance. Doug also enjoyed life on his little farm, where he cared for his chickens, goats, sheep, and rabbits.
Doug was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in the temple, where he found strength and purpose throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Helen Buhler; his sisters, Christine Costalez, Nina Varner, and Betty Eisel. He is survived by his brother, Ivan (Linda) Buhler of Worland, Wyoming; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bern Cemetery,  in Bern, Idaho. Family and friends are welcome to gather and honor his life.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Franklin County Medical Center, Home Health, many doctors, Breann, Jerry, Cody, and Mary for the loving care they provided to Doug in his final days.
