Dixie Leah Yeates, a cherished mother, grandmother, and beloved member of her community, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 18, 1937, in Logan, Utah, Dixie lived a life marked by generosity, independence, and an indomitable spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Dixie graduated from Logan High School and pursued further education at Stevens Henager Business School, cultivating a lifelong passion for numbers. Those who knew her recall how much she delighted in balancing checkbooks and managing finances—an activity she embraced not just as a skill but as a genuine enjoyment. This love of numbers seamlessly intertwined with her career and personal life. Alongside her husband Clyde, Dixie owned and operated a semi-truck business for many years. While Clyde drove the routes weekly to Canada and California, Dixie expertly managed all the financial responsibilities that kept their venture thriving.
A woman with a vibrant and sassy personality, Dixie combined wit and humor with a generous heart. Her dry sense of humor brought laughter to those around her, yet it was her kindness and selflessness that truly defined her. Dixie devoted countless hours to her church, serving in numerous capacities with special fondness for her work with the scouts. She guided many young boys on the path to earning their Eagle Scout badges, a testament to her commitment to nurturing success and character in others.
Family was the cornerstone of Dixie’s life. She never sought personal accolades, instead taking immense pride in the achievements of her children and grandchildren—whether in music, dance, academics, or their various pursuits. A fun-loving mother and grandmother, Dixie delighted in creating joyful experiences for her family. Favorite memories include trips to Lagoon, Bear Lake, parks, and any place where children could revel in good times, laughter, and adventure.
Dixie was also known for her culinary talents. Her chocolate chip cookies and fudge were treasured highlights at every family gathering, bringing sweetness both literally and metaphorically to these cherished moments. Through these simple acts of love and care, she poured warmth into the lives of those around her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Horace Clyde; her parents Melvin and Elsie Krambule; and her siblings Yvonne, Lynn, Larry, Melvin, and Kay. Dixie is survived by her devoted daughter Joye and son-in-law David; her sons Richard and Kim, John and LaNette, and Jim and Donna; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored beyond measure. She is also survived by her brother D’orr.
Dixie’s final days were spent at Heritage Assisted Living in Preston, Idaho, where she passed quietly in the early morning hours, comforted and surrounded by her loving family. Her legacy of strength, compassion, and joyful generosity will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her.
A graveside service to honor Dixie’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Logan City Cemetery, located at 1000 North 1200 East, Logan, Utah.
Dixie Leah Yeates lived a life rich with love, laughter, and devotion. Her spirit will forever remain etched in the hearts of those she touched, a beacon of warmth and kindness carried forward through generations.
