Charmaine Yvonne Carter, beloved wife, mother, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, was born on October 26, 1957, in Tucson, Arizona, to Joseph and Jeanne Zook. She was born into a loving family of nine children and carried those deep family roots with her throughout her life.
In 1983, she married Alan Carter. Charmaine and Alan were sealed in the Logan, UT LDS Temple in 1998. They lived in Franklin, Idaho, and later Jensen, Utah, where together, they raised their five children: Jennifer Bassett, Bridgette Nielsen, Stephanie Dyet, Holly Hoppe, and Ryan Carter. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren. Charmaine’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, always making sure everyone was taken care of.
Charmaine was a woman of incredible strength and determination—truly one of the hardest-working women her family has ever known. She carried a strong will and a quiet resilience, never complaining even through life’s greatest challenges. With a smile always on her face, she continued to serve faithfully in her community and in her faith, working tirelessly to care for and support her family.
Through a six-year battle with cancer, she faced each day with courage, grace, and an unshakable trust in her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her testimony never wavered, and she was an example of strength and peace to those around her.
She was known throughout her community for her kindness and her dedication to her family. Her life was a reflection of Christlike love, and her influence will continue to bless all who knew her.
Charmaine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jeanne Zook, as well as her brothers, Duane, Dennis, Jace, and Patrick Zook. She is survived by her husband, Alan Carter, and her children, along with her siblings, Lonny, Vickie, Dana, and Candice. Her family finds comfort in imagining the joyful reunion she is now experiencing with those she has long missed.
Charmaine leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, strength, and unconditional love. While her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in the knowledge that families are eternal.
