Obituary

Carl Allen Crane

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Allen Crane, who died on June 26, 2026, at the age of 47.

Born on June 28, 1978, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to (Miller) Ray and (Mamie) Louise Crane, Carl was the 7th of 8 children in a large, loving family that helped shape his resilience and unmistakable personality. He was clever, charismatic, armed with razor-sharp wit, and had a gift for turning ordinary moments into stories worth retelling. He was the life of the party, equal parts comedian and instigator.

He spoke his mind without apology, and beneath his candid exterior was a man guided by a generous heart. He believed in doing things the right way, even when it was hard. He showed up when friends needed him. He kept his word. He cared about craftsmanship, integrity, and a job done well. The work he did with his hands stands as a lasting reminder of the care he poured into his projects and the people he loved.

To know Carl was to know someone who was wonderfully imperfect. He was funny, frustrating, generous, stubborn, loyal, and unforgettable. He left irreplaceable imprints on the lives of his family, his friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

He loved the outdoors, he loved traveling, and he loved riding his bike with his brother Mike, even if he occasionally insisted that he was in shape when the evidence suggested otherwise. Those rides weren’t about speed or distance as much as they were about conversations and connection

One of Carl’s greatest gifts was the way he cared for the people in his life.

He had a way of making you feel seen, remembered, and important, and once you were in his heart, Carl was loyal for life. He had an extraordinary ability to stay connected with family and friends, frequently reaching out with a phone call or text, simply because he was thinking of you. He remembered important moments, checked in when someone was struggling, celebrated others' successes as if they were his own, and listened with his heart, even if his mouth occasionally got there first.

He will be remembered for the stories he told, the laughter he inspired, the maddening perfectness of his work, and the unwavering way he kept trying. We will miss his laughter, his conversations, and the way he showed up for those he loved. His legacy of generosity, loyalty, and genuine connection will continue to live on in the people whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Desiree, his seven siblings, Gwen (Jay), Barbara (Darwin), Marsha (Kenny), Michelle, Mike (Sarah), Anthony, and David, along with countless family members and friends who will remember his laughter and the moments of joy he brought into their lives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Louise Crane, and his cousins, Steven Burnett and Joshua Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with those you love, check in on your friends, have honest conversations about pain, and never underestimate the difference a small act of kindness can make. His life reminds us that the measure of a person is not perfection, but the kindness we show, the relationships we nurture, and the family we cherish.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held Friday, July 3, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Red Rose Funeral Home at 56 South State Street, Preston, Idaho 83263.
