Bennett Allen "Al" Cottam, 81 of Preston, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Al Cottam was born on December 14, 1943, in Providence, UT. Al lived in Providence until he was approximately 12 years old. His family then moved to Brigham City, UT. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1961 and attended classes at Weber State University. Al attended a class at Hill Air Force Base and was hired to work in the Air Force Photography Department. He spent 23 years working on various military bases around the world.
Al married Frances Waters on Dec 26, 1980. When they moved back to the US from Germany, they bought a home in West Valley City, UT. When they decided to make a move, they fell in love with Whitney, ID. They bought their current lot in 1997 and moved into their home in 2002. Whitney became their home, their family and their life. Al and Fran were sealed in the Logan Temple on 03/14/2009.
Al is survived by his three daughters: Debbie (Greg), Trisha (Mike), and Jana (Todd), two brothers: DeVon (Linda) and Scott (Shannon), and two sisters: Elizabeth (Farrell) and Leila (Lee). Al has 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 08, 2025, at the Red Rose Funeral Home, 56 S State Street, Preston. Interment will follow in the Whitney Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. before the funeral services.
